Heatwave Festival 1980
The 1980's kicked off with a brand new, avant-garde sound which took elements of punk, pop, and the advent of the synthesizer, and coagulated them into something called "The New Wave." And no bigger festival in North American symbolized New Wave's arrival than "Heatwave." Although The Clash didn't make it, the 40,000 attendees were treated to stellar performances despite rumours the show lost $1 million.
